BelleauWood Guardian Program

We have availability in our Guardian Program - Looking for Guardian Homes in North & South Carolina (Available Guardian Homes are listed on the bottom of this page)

What is a Guardian Home?

We believe all of our breeding dogs need to live normal lives as part of a forever family, where they will get tons of love and attention! In order to ensure that we have a strong breeding program with diverse bloodlines, we sometimes look for special families that are interested in being Guardians for one of our exceptional breeding dogs. The dog could be male of female, adult or puppy, based on who we are trying to place at the time. We work with each situation to develop a custom contract that fits the needs of our program and your households. Time range for contracts range but will not exceed 6 years and could be as short as 12/16 months. During this time, we remain the legal owner. At the end of the contract, the dog is spayed/neutered and you become the legal owner. This is intended to be a PERMANENT placement in your home. Guardianship is a WIN/WIN/WIN for us, our guardians and our dogs.

How does the process work for a Male?
Males can begin breeding as early as a year old. We will typically breed a male 2 to 5 times a year. The contract for a male would typically last 5 years. At the end of the contract, the male will be neutered. Breedings can be short daytime visits, 2 to 3 days apart, extended stays with us for up to a week, or vet/semen bank visits for semen collection for artificial inseminations.

How does the process work for a Female?
Females typically begin breeding on their second or third heat cycle - between 15 and 24 months of age. The contract for a female will typically be for 6 years and a maximum of 4 litters. We will manage the breeding process. Heats can be a little inconvenient, but there are now high quality doggie diapers that make it a much easier process. Girls typically only discharge for a few days at the start of the cycle. They are prime for breeding on days 12-14 typically (although individuals can vary some). This gives plenty of time, if you notify us right away, for the logistics of arranging for the breeding. Girls will stay with us for up to a week for breeding. Girls are pregnant for 62-65 days. Besides an increase in eating and sleeping, you will not likely notice any changes. During this time, we might ask that you have her ultrasounded at our expense. She will then come to our house 4-7 days before delivery. We find that dogs are very excited and happy to visit with us, so this is not a traumatic experience. We will deliver the puppies and care for them for 8 weeks until they are no longer nursing. During this time, visits are not encouraged but updates will be provided. We believe strongly in biosecurity for young puppies, whose immune systems are developing. We ensure that mom has fully recovered from pregancy, birth, and nursing before she is ready to return to her Guardian Home.

Her body is very compact and square. As an older puppy, Kelly is potty and crate trained.  Kelly has received all her vaccinations, including rabies.

Kelly was born on February 14, 2021.
Her mom is Kaitlyn and her dad is Jericho Skywalker.
