About Multigenerational Australian Labradoodles
Our Labradoodles are all multigenerational with 4-8+ generations of careful breeding for the following traits:
1. Physical Health and Well Being: OFA/Penn Hip testing, CERF eye testing, Cardiac testing. This family history of extensive health testing dramatically decreases the odds that you will have high veterinary care bills for many inheritable diseases that are common to dogs as they age. These conditions often entail periods of surgery and pain and occasionally, in severe cases, death. While no dog has zero chance of having hip, eye and heart issues as they age, a family history clear of these problems, dramatically reduces the odds. Our breeding dogs AND many of their family members have extensive health testing including hips, eyes, elbows, heart, thyroid, and hearing. 2. Temperament: Our labradoodles have exceptional temperaments. Multigenerational Australian Labradoodles were developed over 50 years and many generations, as the ultimate companion dog by carefully breeding for the most desirable traits of American and English Labrador Retrievers, Poodles, American and English Cocker Spaniels, and Irish Water Spaniels. Our puppies are highly intelligent and share the amazing, intangible trait of many labradoodles that they seem to have comical and humanistic personalities. 3. Predictable Traits: Because of the decades of very selective breeding and testing, Multigenerational Australian Labradoodles are far more predictable in their both temperament and health traits than F1B and other early generation American Labradoodles. Labradoodles range in size from mini to standard. Our breeding program focuses on dogs ranging from 20-35 pounds, which we believe is an ideal size for a family dog. Within that range, we can usually narrow down our prediction for your puppy's adult weight to a 5 pound range based on it's parents' weights and it's birth weight and growth. Their temperaments are predictable as well. They are a fun loving dog that have a great ability to be very athletic and fun when they are out and about, yet they are REALLY big sleepers and spend much of the day very chilled out. This makes them a great indoor family dog as they are not hyperactive at all and are totally happy to sleep till noon with you if you want to. Our lines are non-shedding (when they begin to shed, it is time to go to the groomers). They are less likely than many other breeds to cause allergic reactions. We produce some puppies that are curlier and some that are wavier coats. We recommend that you plan to do a full body cut at least twice a year. Some people prefer to keep their labradoodles cleaner cut while others like them shaggier. |

WHAT IS AN ORIGINAL AUSTRALIAN LABRADOODLE?
(from the Australian Labradoodle Club website) The Australian Labradoodle is different from all other labradoodles. In the early days, the Australian Labradoodle was simply a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Standard Poodle. Dogs from this cross typically were bred to each other over future generations, whereby the Australian dogs are also know as "Multi-generational" Labradoodles. Then, in the late 1980's, Tegan Park and Rutland Manor, the two founders of the Australian Labradoodle as we know it today, began carefully infusing several other breeds into early generations of their Lab/Poodle crosses, to improve temperament, coat, conformation, and size. The infused breeds include Irish Water Spaniel as well as the American and English Cocker Spaniel. The resulting labradoodles subsequently have been bred to each other, continuing the multi-generational tradition. Today, Australian Labradoodles are wonderful, intelligent dogs with lush coats that are more reliably low to non-shedding and allergy friendly than other types of Labradoodles such as first generation Lab/Poodle crosses, or first generation crosses bred back to Poodles. Even when the other types of Labradoodles are bred on for generations, the result is not an Australian Labradoodle, as the attributes of the infused breeds were not included in their ancestry. |
